Spiced Winter Compote

Got fruit that’s on the turn? This delicious homemade spiced winter compote is a great, easy dessert or why not try it for breakfast. Serve over pancakes with crème fresh or with thick, plain yoghurt.


  • 4 Dried figs, stalk removed
  • 4 Dried apricots
  • 2 Dried prunes
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • Juice of 2 oranges
  • ½ a Large cinnamon stick
  • 2 Cloves


  1. Place all the ingredients into a bowl.
  2. Stir all the ingredients together, ensuring the orange juice is covering all the ingredients.
  3. Leave to soak for several hours or overnight.
  4. Once ready remove the cinnamon stick and cloves, drain off most of the liquid and reserve.
  5. Pour into the Mini Prep Pro and process using the chop function until all the fruit is broken up. Use some of the reserved liquid if necessary until you have a lovely, chunky consistency.
  6. Serve with thick, plain yoghurt.
