This smooth and creamy homemade hummus recipe uses store cupboard ingredients and only takes a few minutes to prepare. Makes a great snack served with raw veggies or your favourite bread.


  • 400g tin of chick peas, drained & reserved
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 2 tbsp tahini paste
  • Juice ½ lemon
  • 3-4 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • Pinch sea salt
  • 2-4 tbsp tinned chickpea water


  1. Place all the ingredients into the bowl of your food processor.
  2. Process until smooth and creamy, adding more chickpea liquid if needed.
  3. Check seasoning before serving with fresh crusty bread
