Homemade flatbreads are quick and easy to make, using just 4 store cupboard ingredients. Ideal for dipping or layering with your favourite fillings, these delicious flatbreads are perfect for a quick snack or an easy lunch.

Ingredients:

  • 200g plain or wholemeal flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 100ml warm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for greasing

Directions:

  1. Place the flour and salt into the large bowl of your food processor.
  2. With the processor running, add the oil and water through the feed tube and allow to run until the dough forms a ball and cleans the sides of the bowl. If it is too sticky add a little more flour.
  3. Remove the dough and place onto a floured surface. Knead just until the dough becomes pliable and forms a smooth ball. Place into an oiled bowl, cover and leave for 30 minutes.
  4. Form the dough into a sausage shape and cut into 6 evenly sized pieces. Form each of these into a ball using your hands.
  5. Roll each ball of dough, one at a time using a rolling pin. Rollout into thin rounds. Place them between sheets of greaseproof paper to stop them sticking to each other and drying out. (It is easier to work on a surface with only a little flour so that the dough does not slip around).
  6. Fully open the grill to and heat on medium/high. Lightly oil the plates.
  7. Cook the flatbreads for approximately 3 minutes on each side. They should puff up and colour in patches.
  8. Serve with a freshly made dip.
