Homemade flatbreads are quick and easy to make, using just 4 store cupboard ingredients. Ideal for dipping or layering with your favourite fillings, these delicious flatbreads are perfect for a quick snack or an easy lunch.
Ingredients
- 200g plain or wholemeal flour
- ½ tsp salt
- 100ml warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for greasing
Preparation
- Place the flour and salt into the large bowl of your food processor.
- With the processor running, add the oil and water through the feed tube and allow to run until the dough forms a ball and cleans the sides of the bowl. If it is too sticky add a little more flour.
- Remove the dough and place onto a floured surface. Knead just until the dough becomes pliable and forms a smooth ball. Place into an oiled bowl, cover and leave for 30 minutes.
- Form the dough into a sausage shape and cut into 6 evenly sized pieces. Form each of these into a ball using your hands.
- Roll each ball of dough, one at a time using a rolling pin. Rollout into thin rounds. Place them between sheets of greaseproof paper to stop them sticking to each other and drying out. (It is easier to work on a surface with only a little flour so that the dough does not slip around).
- Fully open the grill to and heat on medium/high. Lightly oil the plates.
- Cook the flatbreads for approximately 3 minutes on each side. They should puff up and colour in patches.
- Serve with a freshly made dip.
